Field update
Build the battlefield
dWars v0.5.3 · 8 August 2026
The Map Builder turns any neighborhood into a playable map, Command mode shows your forces at a glance, and WebGPU players are back on the field.
New
- Map Builder is live. Select a neighborhood, fetch real streets from OpenStreetMap, and generate a playable map — terrain, movement fields, supply coverage — all from inside the game. A progress bar tracks each pipeline stage so you know where the build stands.
- Shipped campaign maps now offer a Copy action in the map list, opening Build Map preloaded with the original area so you can start from a known layout and adjust what you want.
- Players on GPUs that can't run the full pipeline now see a clear hardware warning before the game downloads anything, with a Continue anyway option for those who want to try.
Changed
- Command mode now draws units at their actual map scale — they were specks before and now read clearly at a glance.
- Per-unit effects (supply glow, explosion sparks, projectile trails) stay inside the unit circle in Command mode instead of hanging outside the outline.
- Custom levels now field a force sized to their actual resource pool. A level authored with 50,000 RP no longer deploys only what a 125-RP budget could buy.
- All seven campaign levels now ship with six battalions per side — Burwood Girls and Summer Hill gain their missing third battalions.
- Level List scroll moves in smaller steps: one wheel notch glides a third of a row instead of snapping a full card out of view.
- Shadow quality scales with your performance profile, reducing render cost on lower-tier hardware without affecting full-settings appearance.
- Unit collision radii (Drone, Roller, Tank) have been tuned and apply game-wide.
Fixed
- WebGPU players on valid GPUs (GTX 1070 and equivalent) were seeing a full-screen "GPU does not meet minimum requirements" modal that also swallowed every button click, leaving the game unusable. Fixed.
- Battalion outlines no longer trail along shell and shot flight paths.
- The Loadout screen no longer dead-ends on a blank page after a startup failure — it logs the error and returns you to the previous screen.
- Tunnels no longer paint roads on maps as if traversable from above ground.
Every map is a real neighborhood. Every battle is fought on real streets. — Elle
