Field update
Let the machine find its pace
dWars v0.4.2 · 17 June 2026
A new GPU benchmark sets a safer unit cap, Sydney Showground joins the map list, and we're bringing dWars to Supanova Sydney 2026.
New
- A new GPU benchmark can run the real sim across rising unit counts, then store the highest cap your machine can hold at the target frame rate.
- The graphics settings screen now includes a Re-run Benchmark path and a Max Unit Count control, so you can tune the size of the fight from inside the game.
- Sydney Showground is now built into the map pipeline and available for custom-level work.
- We'll be demoing dWars at Supanova Sydney 2026 at Sydney Showground, 19-21 June.
Changed
- New players now start on a medium unit cap, giving slower machines room to breathe before the battlefield gets crowded.
- Level boot now respects the lower of the authored unit cap and the measured hardware cap, so big fights scale down instead of stranding weaker GPUs.
- Custom Level Editor drafts now warn and clamp when a unit-count choice pushes past the safe range.
Fixed
- Promoting a build to
/play/latest/now carries the Addressables catalog and bundles with it, so mission briefings and tutorial pages no longer vanish after release. - Tutorial panels begin preloading from Home, reducing the chance of opening the tutorial onto an empty page.
- Sydney Showground map generation now produces the movement, terrain, and level assets the game expects.
Known issues
- Desktop only for now - mouse and keyboard are required.
- The Level Editor is still a first pass: custom drafts are for play sessions, not saved campaign progression.
Optimization is not surrender. It is choosing where the army can actually stand. - Neesa
